The world's first MagSafe headphones that attach to the back of the iPhone
Some people are excited to see an idea that makes them wonder why no one has done it before. That's exactly what Artronic's Komutr MagSafe headphones are - the world's first genuine MagSafe headphones.
It solves the basic problem we all face at one time or another: Can't remember where we put our headphones, and why can't we find them when we're in a hurry?
Instead, with the Komutr earbuds, the case is always with you and can actually keep your phone charged.
Never lose your headphones again
Artronic's Komutr headphones are a solution to one of life's modern problems. Surprisingly, however, this is the first time MagSafe headphones have been officially implemented. It seems like a completely natural combination.
On that note, the Komutr earbuds do exactly what you think they do: They use MagSafe magnets to attach to the back of your iPhone (or Android device with a magnetic case). Once attached, they really don't move around, just like any other MagSafe product.
The Komutr's hardware specs are impressive. It's certainly not a flashy piece of hardware, but the limitations of a MagSafe-centric design would force Artronic to act. In a way, it is.
The earbuds themselves are incredibly light, weighing just 3.96g each. When you take them out of the box, they feel like they're missing a component. Modern headphones aren't heavy by any means, but these are some of the lightest you'll ever use.
The headphones are equipped with pretty good 8mm drivers, and considering the size and lightweight design, they actually sound pretty good. While they won't win any awards for sound design, as mentioned, they are very good.
The earbuds have up to 8 hours of battery life with ANC turned on, which is again impressive considering the size of the earbuds. The case has an additional 800mAh battery, giving you an extra 30 hours of listening on the go. The earbuds also charge really quickly. You can charge them up to 80% in just 20 minutes via USB-C, meaning you'll never run out of juice. They also support wireless charging.
Another impressive feature is the Komutr companion app. It's well designed, supports custom EQ, ANC on/off, and more. You can also use it to get OTA updates. But remember: It also supports Apple's Find My feature, so even if you accidentally lose your earbuds, you can easily find them again. It's these features that show why the Komutr is a product that will only get better over time.
The Komutr case can also be used as a handy kickstand on the back of the device, which is quite interesting. When testing the Komutr at IFA 2025, it felt sturdy and well-built.
The headphones don't charge from an iPhone, but there are some gorgeous colors coming soon
Now, here's the important part. MagSafe isn't two-way, so your headphones won't get power from your iPhone. But the Komutr case also can't be used as an iPhone charger.
This is definitely a feature I'd like to see in the future, or at least some form of USB-C charging. Both are great and make these super-convenient MagSafe headphones a truly impressive product.
Another upgrade that people would like to see in future earbuds is a slightly more elegant case. It's incredibly thin and fits the same style as other MagSafe products, but a little extra style would be nice.
On that last point, though, there's some good news. Fabien Gaussorgues, CEO of Artronic Designs, confirmed at IFA 2025 that the company is working on colors that match your iPhone case. There are a few prototypes, but it makes sense that Artronic would wait for Apple's iPhone 17 colors before going into production.
At the time of writing, you can get in early on Artronic's Komutr Kickstarter ; get $50 off the expected price of $149.
