Scientists in Japan have discovered the most complete 72-million-year-old dinosaur skeleton found on Japan's northern island of Hokkaido.

It is known that the bones were collected from duck dinosaurs, excavated in 2013 by ancient biologists of Hokkaido University and the Hobetsu Museum, until recently completed.

It is one of the dinosaurs of the hadrosaurs, once excavated in North America, South America, and Antarctica that flourished in the late Cretaceous period, from 100 million to 66 million years ago.

However, the latest discovery marks this as a fossil of Hadrosaurid dinosaurs collected under the sea. Because before, it is very rare to have a complete fossil skeleton intact, complete under the marine environment.

Scientists call this dinosaur duck fossil dino "Mukawaryu", Japanese called Mukawa dragon with 50% of the bone specimen is almost the most intact.

"We discovered part of the fossilized Mukawaryu skeleton in 2013, and after a series of excavations, we believe we have collected more than half of the bones that the dinosaurs have -" Leading researcher Yoshitsugu Kobayashi said in a press release.

Duck dinosaurs are divided into two separate groups, crest species are Lambeosaurinae, and the remaining crested species belongs to Hadrosaurinae.

"Although Mukawaryu has some characteristics of both groups, our preliminary analysis shows that it may belong to the Hadrosaurinae family , " Kobayashi said. "The team will collect more fossil samples and study more details of Mukawaryu's bone samples and will soon release new information soon."
