Design and finish

Before going into the performance details of the C920, let's take a look at the design. Yes, it does not look neat, it is not beautiful, but overall, the C920 is a webcam device with a standard design. A glass plate is mounted on the plastic case to protect the lens. Non-removable plug, wrapped in thick, strong rubber. Basically, you can put it in your pocket without fear of damage from impact.

The C920 uses a plastic clip to attach to the control unit. This clip can be opened and turned into a cradle when the webcam is flat. Under the stand, there is support for 3 brackets, which is very convenient and helps the webcam stand more firmly. However, this stand is not removable, but fortunately you can still fold it and put it neatly in your pocket.

Install Logitech C920 webcam

To install the C920, plug the USB cord into the computer and turn on the video application, which is generally quite complicated. Once installed, the C920 webcam can record in various resolutions.

Performance

Equipped with a rich light range, C920 shows extremely beautiful images. The details are crisp, clear and the colors fresh. In addition, the autofocus speed is very fast and accurate. Even though the subject is constantly moving, the C920 never fails to achieve continuous focusing.

In low-light environments, the C920 relies on Logitech RightLight 2 technology to maintain image clarity. RightLight 2 automatically adjusts brightness, contrast and color settings based on ambient light conditions. This algorithm works well in practice, delivering bright images in low light. However, this feature works best on Logitech Brio webcams. Compared to Brio, the C920 is still somewhat darker in the same lighting conditions. Of course, the Brio costs twice as much as the C920, so it's hard to compare.

The C920 passes most imaging tests. It has excellent detail and images, but the auto white balance has a bit of a problem. When automatically adjusting the colors, the image on the device is usually tilted in blue, which means that there is a cold tone. Besides, it also often brightens red areas, especially when using the webcam in low light conditions.

Fortunately, we can fix this problem through Logitech Camera Settings software. This is a software that allows adjusting brightness, contrast, color intensity and white balance. Change the white balance (if you want) including disabling automatic color adjustment on the device. However, this also means that you must set the light manually when conditions in the external environment change.

The built-in microphone in the C920 is similar to the mic on most other laptops, except it's not as stable as it is. The audio recorded through the mic of the webcam is small and buzzing. If sound quality is important to you, use a decent audio receiver.

Many streamers use background replacement software when streaming. Therefore, although Logitech C920 is not on the list of officially supported devices, it is still tested with ChromaCam. C920 works surprisingly smoothly.
