Palm revived with a tiny phone model just by ATM card
The Palm brand officially returns to the market with a completely new, tiny size phone with a screen of only 3.3 inches, the average configuration and running Android.
This is the product of a startup company in San Francisco (USA) after acquiring Palm from TCL (China) last year (HP died Palm in 2011 and sold it to Chinese companies).
Palm is also the name of this phone, without the code name. It is quite small in size, only equivalent to an ATM card with long parameters x 50 x 97 mm, 7.4 mm thick, weighing 62.5 grams.
Although only 3.3 inches in size, but with a pixel density of 445 pixels per inch (PPI), Palm's screen can display sharp images equivalent to high-end smartphones on the market today. It is equipped with Gorilla Glass toughened glass 3, which is IP68 waterproof and dustproof.
Because the size is too small, Palm does not have a 3.5 mm headphone jack but only USB-C port on the bottom edge. On the device only one hard key is the power button.
Palm is equipped with rear camera with 12 megapixel resolution, 8 megapixel front camera.
Machine with Snapdragon 435 processor, 3 GB RAM, 32 GB internal memory and battery capacity of only 800mAh but can still use up to 8 hours with 1 charge. The phone is pre-installed with Android 8.1 operating system with a customizable interface to fit the small screen.
On the screen of the machine there is a single virtual key, when you press once to return to the previous item (back), to go to the main screen (home) press twice and press hold to open multitasking. Since there is no volume control key, the user must enter the settings panel to adjust. Activate Google Assistant by holding the power button.
Palm application interface is designed as a grid to fit the small screen size. To access the application keys, users hold down the icon.
A special feature of Palm is Live mode, when both mobile and wifi are turned off if the screen is off. When the screen is on, the network will be activated again. This is the solution given by the manufacturer to help users avoid being bothered by notifications on smartphones.
Palm hasn't supported any SIM cards yet, so it can't be used as a standalone smartphone. It must use Verizon's NumberShare service (US) for $ 10 per month to synchronize messages and notify the main phone. Therefore, it is sold exclusively and limited by Verizon.
Palm costs 349 USD (about 8.1 million VND) and will be released later this month with many accessories to support sports.
