One Piece author reveals new secret details about Luffy's mother
One Piece is one of the longest-running and most expansive shonen anime in the genre. Each main character has an extended backstory with a complex family tree. However, in a series where family ties are important, the main character's family lineage has yet to be fully revealed.
The main character, Straw Hat Luffy of the Pirate King, is one of the strongest characters in the series. Luffy's father and grandfather are both equally strong. However, little to no information has been released about Luffy's mother . All fans can rely on so far are the hints that One Piece author Eiichiro Oda has given in the anime's Q&A session.
In one of the most recent arcs of the anime, Oda revealed that Luffy's mother would most likely be involved in the story. Based on the SBS responses, Luffy's mother may have appeared. However, some fans refuse to believe that Luffy's mother would be involved in the story. Some of the most important characters had their parents erased ahead of time. In many ways, it seems that Oda considered having living parents to be antithetical to adventure from the start. However, a lot of the information below is still unknown because it was only revealed in a small portion of the manga.
Luffy's mother appeared in One Piece
Luffy is one of the strongest pirates in the New World. He dreams of becoming the Pirate King and reaching the legendary island known as Laugh Tale. He has recently achieved the rank of Yonk and made a name for himself on the Grand Line. However, he spent most of his childhood being raised by the Mountain Bandits due to his father's not-so-good reputation. It is no surprise that Luffy's father is equally important to the One Piece world and influences the story despite not appearing much.
Monkey D. Dragon is the most wanted man in the series and the leader of the Revolutionary Army. He opposes the World Government and does everything he can to free society from its grip. He has been relatively successful in his efforts and has gathered many capable fighters. Furthermore, although Dragon has never been shown fighting in the series, he is arguably one of the strongest characters in One Piece. Despite his power, he denied Luffy's birth in order to protect him from being involved in his illegal life.
Interestingly, Luffy's mother is also absent from One Piece. However, unlike Luffy's father, nothing is known about her character or family tree. She has even less appearances than her former lover, and has yet to actually appear in the series. Luffy is not even sure if he has parents, so it's no surprise that his mother is not mentioned. Many fans have speculated that she may have been a powerful revolutionary in her own right, or that she passed away around the time Luffy was born.
The Straw Hat Captain has never been mentioned as an infant, which provides some evidence for the latter theory. However, it is clear that both Luffy and his father were born in Windmill Village. This has been largely confirmed to be true, as Dragon seems to always be thinking about the island when his thoughts are home. His rarely-shared personality means that information about Luffy's mother remains a mystery for now. However, this has not stopped Eiichiro Oda, the series' author, from dropping major hints about the character in the manga's SBS.

Sometimes he will answer a profound question with a silly answer and vice versa. However, some of the series' biggest mysteries are hinted at in this little-known portion of the manga.
An SBS provided more details on Luffy's mother concept. When asked some questions about Luffy's mother's condition, Oda commented that she was still alive and went into more detail. He said she would be a rather rough-looking woman and more of a traditional mother figure than characters like Shakky.
In a separate SBS, Dragon said that Luffy's father or parents would appear in future chapters. While this sounds plausible, it has given rise to some theories that Luffy's mother is hidden in some chapter. Based on Oda's description of Luffy's figurative mother, many fans have scoured the pages for background characters that fit that description. Several characters may fit the description, but none of them are Luffy's mother.
An extremely bizarre fan theory suggests that Crocodile could be Luffy's mother. Aside from Crocodile's insensitive treatment of the protagonist, Crocodile has secrets that he doesn't want Ivankov to reveal. This is one of the only reasons why he's willing to work with Luffy to escape Impel Down. However, this is where the absurdity begins to set in.
If Luffy's mother is still alive in the story, she is either in hiding or one of the strongest characters. She is definitely related to the D. Family and may have something to do with Luffy's attachment to Joy Boy. Many fans speculate that Luffy's mother must be related to Gol D. Roger in some way, given Luffy's general appearance. Despite being the son of Dragon, he favored the former Pirate King over his son, Ace.
