The strangest weapons in One Piece
There are many types of weapons in One Piece . Below are some unique weapons in the One Piece series that you have never seen anywhere else.
The world of One Piece is undeniably strange. Its designs tend to be quite unusual compared to other anime, and to some extent, so are its weapons. Since the series revolves around conflicts between various pirates and the government, the use of weapons is inevitable.
One Piece features common weapons like swords, guns, etc. However, due to Devil Fruits and other oddities, not every fighter has the most common equipment in their inventory. This leads to some completely strange attack methods that have never been seen in any anime or manga.
Mucus
- User: Gem "Mr. 5" & Trebol
- Related Devil Fruits: Bomu Bomu no Mi and Beta Beta no Mi
Gem, also known as Mr. 5, is an agent in Baroque Works, a criminal organization that seeks to take over Alabasta. His Devil Fruit allows him to explode any part of his body. While he is not known to be a physically strong fighter, the explosive power Gem wields tends to be a solid method of accomplishing his goals. However, sometimes the enemy is not within punching range. This means he has to get creative.
A rather crude method of long-range attack is to pick his nose. This tactic then causes him to throw his snot at any distant enemy. Considering that Gem can apparently use his breath and presumably other less disgusting aspects of himself to create explosives, it is unclear exactly what advantage his snot has over other weapons. Zoro specifically remarks on his disgust at cutting off such a snot with his sword.
Mucus later became a more direct method of attack thanks to Trebol, a staff officer of the Donquixote Pirates,'s Devil Fruit. Trebol's mucus is significantly larger and has a disgustingly sticky and flammable consistency, making it a versatile and dangerous attack. He can also cleverly camouflage his body with mucus, making attackers believe he is a Logia user.
Food
- Users: The Three Sweet Commanders, Charlotte Perospero.
- Related Devil Fruits: Mochi Mochi no Mi, Shibo Shibo no Mi, Bisu Bisu no Mi, Pero Pero no Mi and many more
Food fights can get pretty intense in the One Piece universe, due to both the ammunition and the caliber of those who wield them. Many food-related Devil Fruits are commonly seen in the Big Mom Pirates, some of whom have mastered the art of crafting lethal weapons out of mochi (Charlotte Katakuri), juice (Charlotte Smoothie), and cookies (Charlotte Cracker), among other commonly eaten products.
In the Big Mom Pirates, other examples of Devil Fruit users' powers related to food include candy (Charlotte Perospero), butter (Charlotte Galette), ice cream (Charlotte Opera) and more broadly, a cooking-themed Devil Fruit, which can turn any inanimate object into food when the user comes into contact with it (Streusen). Another interesting fact is that most Devil Fruit users in the crew, tend to become the "minister" of the type of food they use as a power, ruling over an island that also revolves around that product in Totto Land.
These abilities are often achieved through the precise use of the powers given to them. Qualities such as the malleability of mochi and the hardness of cookies are expanded and exaggerated to the point where they become viable weapons. Sometimes, Devil Fruits based on foods taste terrible, which is consistent with the fact that Devil Fruits themselves are notoriously bad tasting.
Special Homies
- User: Big Mom & Nami
- Related Devil Fruit: Soru Soru no Mi
Homies are a byproduct of Big Mom's Devil Fruit, which allows her to control the souls of other beings. Due to Big Mom's imposing appearance and fearsome reputation, this weapon is particularly effective. But what does one do with the surplus souls that have no bodies? Give them new bodies, of course! Big Mom's reused souls reside in sentient but usually inanimate objects, most of which are usually attached to rather cute smiley faces.
"Special homies" are composed of the user's own soul, which in Big Mom's case gives them a lot of additional power. Her main homies include Zeus; a living cloud, Prometheus; a living sun and Napoleon; a living sword, which is also a meito but of unknown quality. She can inflict various attacks with her different homies. Unfortunately, Nami stole Zeus from Big Mom by feeding him a clima-tact, creating orbs of light that he wanted to eat. Since then, he has largely bonded with Nami and continues to serve her to this day.
Although Big Mom made Zeus reconsider his actions, she also replaced him with a female cloud named Hera, who attempted to eat Zeus alive to gain his power. Hera was able to combine with Prometheus and Napoleon, creating a giant named Misery. Zeus now resides mainly in Nami's climate and is able to merge his consciousness with the weather it creates.
Pop Greens
- Users: Usopp & Heracles
- Devil Fruit involved: None
These plants were discovered by Usopp during his training in the Boin Islands. Found in the Greenstone forest, pop greens are so named due to their ability to quickly grow from seed into a full-grown plant. Before Usopp discovered them, they were trained by Heracles, a warrior from the South Blue who served as Usopp's mentor during the timeskip.
In addition to training Usopp, Heracles also taught him how to master various pop greens, which have since become regular weapons in Usopp's arsenal. While Usopp uses One Piece to fight traditional plants like the venus flytrap and the mandrake (renamed the humandrake), other plants are said to be even more bizarre in their uses. The character has plants that can transform into shuriken, a banana boat, and a giant wolf that can create shockwaves wherever it goes. Usopp's new slingshot, Kuro Kabuto, can also become a dangerous plant when exposed to water, due to a special grass called Bakun So that lives inside it.
Zoan Weapon
- User: Babe "Mr. 4", Spandam.
- Related Devil Fruits: Inu Inu no Mi, Model: Dachshund, Zou Zou no Mi, and Sara Sara no Mi, Model Axolotl
Zoan Devil Fruits allow the user to possess the characteristics of the animal associated with the fruit consumed. They are said to have a mind of their own, able to subdue the user when awakened (like the prison beasts). This aspect of them has been shown long before it was directly mentioned.
For example, inanimate objects "eat" Zoan Devil Fruits. They then become fully sentient beings, tend to serve their masters, and are often used as weapons. Two examples of this include Lassoo, a bazooka that ate a dachshund's Devil Fruit, and Funkfreed, a giant sword that ate an elephant's Devil Fruit. This allows the weapons to become more like their master's pets. However, it does not necessarily increase their fighting ability. Like his master, Spandam, Funkfreed is weak and also a coward, meaning he could potentially deal more damage as a sword if used properly.
The third example is Smiley, which is not a direct weapon but a toxic compound capable of causing death upon impact. When given the Axolotl Devil Fruit, it happily crawled across Punk Hazard, causing destruction until Caesar Clown turned it into a more petrified gas, by feeding it a candy-shaped ingredient, before dying a painful death. This strange ability tends to personify otherwise lifeless weapons.
