Nearly 3,000 gamers join hands to build New York City at 1:1 scale in Minecraft

Specifically, the 'Build the Earth' team consisting of 2731 members around the world is working together to recreate an entire New York City with a 1:1 scale in Minecraft - a game about the construction genre.

Recreating New York is part of an earth-building project directed by the creators of Minecraft in the city of Frankfurt. The Build the Earth team members have spent the past 2 years making this happen.

In the process of working, the team will often move to many places instead of working in one area to keep things fresh and interesting.

For example, after 1 week working in Chinatown they will move to Tribeca for 1 week, and then 1 week at Bowery. Then back to Chinatown to continue.

It may take several years for the team to complete the 1:1 scale construction of New York City in Minecraft.

The interesting thing is that Minefact and many other members of the group have never set foot in New York in real life. This is proof that gamers can do amazing things with the will, energy and time.

Minecarft is a game that allows gamers to be creative and build whatever they want.
