The trend of turning PC into a pretty ornament on a desk is evident in Dell's Studio Hybrid PC, which was released at the end of July 2008. The product has a round shape like a stone, 80% smaller than normal computer cases, 70% less electricity. The machine with the most basic configuration costs 499 USD (no screen), 689 USD (with screen).
Configuration includes: Pentium Dual Core or Core 2 Duo Chip; 2.5 inch hard drive (laptop type) 5,400 rpm with 3 optional capacity levels 160 GB, 250 GB and 320 GB; RAM memory from 1 GB to 4 GB. The company also offers customers the option of integrating the latest 802.11n Wi-Fi standard, TV Tuner and even wireless keyboard and mouse. Small but this case has 8x DVD player (you can choose Blu-ray drive), 3 USB 2.0 ports, 4-pin FireWire port, Ethernet port, HDMI DVI, 8-in-1 card reader slot.
Test done by PC Magazine technology magazine showed that multimedia function in Studio Hybrid PC proved quite good, as the purpose lies in the name of the product. The system ran fine with the transparent Aero window of Windows Vista, taking only 38 seconds to complete the experiment with the Photoshop CS3 image processing program.
