Microsoft tests a new Power Mode option to help Windows 11 save more energy
Microsoft is working to implement changes and additions to help Windows 11 become a more user-friendly operating system for laptops, tablets and battery-powered devices in general, to allow users to complete their tasks. More work on just one charge.
Creating an operating system that optimizes energy consumption well is just as important as producing a power-efficient chip. With the latest Windows 11 preview build, Microsoft is testing a new Power Mode option to help the system use power more efficiently.
Earlier this week, Microsoft released build 27686 in the Canary Channel. This build contains a large number of notable features and changes, especially related to optimizing system battery usage. With build 27686, users can set up separate power modes for different power states. For example, you can have your laptop run in 'Best Performance' mode when plugged in and 'Best power efficiency' when on battery by going to Settings > System > Power & battery.
It remains to be seen how effective this feature will actually be when publicly released and evaluated in real-life. However, this is clearly good news and is waiting for the Windows 11 laptop user community.
