The ThinkPad W700 is equipped with 3 hard drives, each with a capacity of 320GB (total of 1TB). It also has a 64GB SSD solid state drive (optional), and according to Williams, the SSD capacity will increase in the next upgrade.
The ThinkPad W700 is integrated with Intel Core 2 Extreme 2.5-core 4-core mobile chip, 12MB L2 cache, and is capable of supporting up to 8GB of RAM. It is equipped with a 17-inch screen capable of displaying videos at HD - 1920x1200 pixel resolution, nVidia Quadro FX graphics card, and Blu-ray reader / writer.
The new product has many useful multimedia features, such as data converters and color calibrators. The data conversion unit (located next to the touchpad hoverpad) allows input from the stylus; and the color calibration kit precisely adjusts the screen color according to the depth of the reflective color.
The ThinkPad W700 sells for $ 2,980 and will be available in the US in September via Lenovo's retail partners. Currently the information of other markets outside the US has not been disclosed. Just last week, Lenovo also launched two of its tiny laptops, IdeaPad S9 and S10.
