How to assemble CPUs from Intel and AMD
Installing new CPUs from Intel or AMD is an important step when upgrading computers or assembling computers themselves. If you make a mistake in the process, you could lose several million like playing. Below, TipsMake.com will guide you how to assemble Intel CPUs and new AMD CPUs correctly and avoid expensive costs.
Of course, before assembling, you have to buy CPU, please refer to some of our instructions to choose the right CPU .

Install Intel CPU
First, you need to have a motherboard, if it is in the computer or still in the packaging, you need to remove it and place it in an antistatic plane, or on its box. Do the same with the new Intel processor, but pay attention not to let the CPU touch the metal surface.
Next, follow the steps below:
- Lift the metal holder on the motherboard.
- Remove the protective plastic cover
- Insert the CPU so that 2 small holes on the side of the CPU fit with 2 tabs on the CPU placement (socket). These holes are created to prevent incorrect placement of the CPU. You can watch the video for easier visualization.
- Put the chip gently, do not use force, do not press on the CPU.
- Protect the CPU by lowering the hold down.
This frame will keep the CPU from falling off when the motherboard is placed inside the computer's tree. The next stage is to install a cooler to heat the CPU.
Intel cooler
Depending on where you buy the CPU, you can get a cooling fan. This fan is more than enough to keep the CPU cool when loaded but not overclocked. If you want to overclock or use a computer for a long time, at a high speed, you will need to invest in a dedicated fan or cooler. Intel cooling fans already have heat sinks, if you buy them, you also need to add heat sink before installing the heat sink.
The next steps are as follows:
- Put the radiator fan / unit on top of the CPU
- Click on 4 keys
- Protect the legs by swirling them toward the CPU in the direction of the small arrows
- Plug the fan cord into the CPU_FAN CPU fan head on the motherboard

Depending on the coolers of different manufacturers you must pay attention to the instructions that accompany them. They can include a frame to mount on the back of the motherboard, then attach the heat sink to the CPU. Remember to add a bit of heat sink glue to the CPU and remove the copper pieces from the heat sink protector before installing.
Assemble AMD CPU
Installing the AMD CPU into the motherboard is quite different from the Intel system because the placement and mounting of the cooler are not the same.
Looking at a new FM2 + motherboard, you will see no metal pins on AMD's CPU placement. Instead, attach the CPU pins to the motherboard at the bottom of the CPU.
Start installing AMD CPUs by turning the CPU lock on the socket up. Then, you can put AMD CPUs into the socket so that the golden triangle at the corner of the chip matches the triangle carved on the corner of the socket. Press slightly for the CPU to stay firmly in the socket. Lower the locking pin to the side of the socket to hold the CPU fixed.
Like Intel's cooling fans, AMD fans also come with heat sinks on the underside. The difference is in the keys. With Intel you need to press 4 pins at 4 corners, AMD will be a little different. You put the fan on the CPU, there are 2 pins on both sides, need to install the correct plastic joints and pull the lever down. The description is a bit difficult to imagine, so it is easier for you to watch videos.
Next, plug the fan's power cord into the top of the fan power on the motherboard. So, the process of assembling AMD CPU is completed.
