Sam took the electronic components in a pair of bone-transmitted wireless headphones that he bought for quite a cheap price. After that, he cut the wire connected to the diaphragm of the pair of old headphones and welded them to the strings of a pair of EarPods. Sam also uses a larger size battery to replace the built-in battery.

So he had a pair of "AirPods", of course his homemade version was uglier than the AirPods bought from the label. Sam's "AirPods" pair works well from playing music, stopping music, adjusting volume, to charging.
