According to a new report published by TopDev, in Vietnam, the position of engineer in Artificial Intelligence (AI) can be up to 500 million VND/year.

According to TopDev's survey, in the programming industry, the proportion of men is nearly 93%, a huge difference.

However, the number of female programmers has increased compared to last year. 30% of female programmers pursue Java programming language, followed by Javascript. In addition, female programmers are also increasingly interested in languages such as Ruby, PHP or Python, AI (artificial intelligence) and Machine Learning.

Regarding the age of programmers in Vietnam, TopDev's report shows that three-quarters of them are less than 35 years old, quite young compared to other countries in the world.

The popularity and applicability of programming languages into products in the Vietnamese market is one of the factors determining the programmer's language choice.

Vietnamese developers have a salary increase rate in 2018 from 16 - 27%.

TopDev also gives information about the salary of software developers in Vietnam. Specifically, employers are willing to pay the average salary for experienced programmers of USD 1,318/month (equivalent to about VND 30 million). And in 2018, developers have a salary increase rate of 16-27%. TopDev's survey shows the needs of businesses for positions related to high web programming and fairly competitive salaries. The positions related to Lead and Manager are paid a high salary.

Considering the salary according to the number of years of experience, usually the developers have a significant increase in salary after a year of work. Specifically, new graduates have a level of between US $330 - 515 (about from 7.5 to 11.7 million VND/month); after 2 years of working, the salary is from 525 to 1,150 USD (from 12.5 to 26.2 million VND/month).

Positions from management level upwards, employers offer high requirements and requirements, so recruitment is difficult. TopDev's survey shows that AI engineers can be paid up to $22,000/year (equivalent to about VND 500 million/year). AI engineers and Machine Learning engineers also have a high salary of more than VND 38.2 million/month ($1,678).
