Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst at KGI Securities, said Apple's new laptop model will have the power of the MacBook Pro and MacBoook Air's compactness. Ming-Chi predicts that "Apple" will release the new MacBook model in the first quarter of 2012.
According to Macrumors, in order to prepare for the new laptop line, Apple could "die " of the 17-inch MacBook Pro this year. The reason is that this model does not sell and the number of machines shipped is declining.
In the first quarter of this year, sales of MacBook Pro 13 and 15 inches are expected to reach 1.5 million and 500,000 units. Meanwhile, the number of 17-inch MacBook Pro sold was only 50,000 units. According to estimates by Ming-Chi Kuo analyst, MacBook Air accounted for more than one-third of Apple's 3.1 million laptops sold.
