Pretend's Steam community forums have been widely criticized by the blatant copying of publisher Pretend. Whitesquare developer admits that the original Pretend was not a free game. But have listed out some of the features that Among Us is lacking such as: Voice chat, new maps, custom Sabotage and some other features.

The game will also be released on Steam for free, but not immediately. Developers are planning to charge for the Early Access version.
