AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7995WX 96-core CPU Achieves Record High Cinebench

AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7995WX officially becomes the fastest workstation CPU model in the world at the present time based on the Cinebench performance rating scale.

Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7995WX is the flagship processor in the Threadripper 7000 product line that AMD recently launched. The chip is equipped with 96 processing cores based on Zen 4 architecture, 192 threads and clock speeds achieved at 2.50GHz (Base)/5.15 GHz (boost). Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7995WX provides 384MB of cache and up to 128 PCIe Gen 5.0 lanes - all 'dream numbers' for workstation users. And of course to get this 'dream', users have to spend up to 9999 USD.

Immediately after information about the new chip was revealed yesterday, technology site PCMag also published the initial performance evaluation of the AMD Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7995WX CPU found in the Dell Precision 7875 workstation model, accompanied by with 512GB DDR5 ECC memory, dual NVIDIA RTX 6000 Ada GPUs and runs on Windows 11 Enterprise operating system. The performance of the Ryzen 7995WX has also been compared to the Xeon W9-3495X, Threadripper PRO 5995WX, and Ryzen 9 7950X.

The benchmark results show the most notable improvement in Cinebench R23, where Ryzen Threadripper PRO 7995WX is up to 56% faster than Ryzen Threadripper PRO 5995WX and even up to 81% faster than Xeon W9-3495X. AMD's new high-end CPU model can also complete the rendering process in Blender in twice the time compared to the other two chips.

In addition to the original performance figures, Videocardz has revealed screenshots of overclocked performance figures from a press event showcasing the Threadripper CPU's capabilities. The results show that the chip achieved an insane performance figure of 148,719 points in the same test. The CPU has been overclocked to 4.4GHz on all 96 cores and power consumption peaks at 620W.

It is also reported that like standard DIY chips, PRO CPUs also fully support OC capabilities in the Ryzen Master software utility. Liquid nitrogen is used to maintain these high clock speeds, as standard heatsink models simply cannot maintain all CPU cores at 4 GHz+ with a TDP above 600W.

Comparing the overclocking results with other chips, the 7995WX is on par with two EPYC 9654 chips, each with 96 cores and 192 threads. The score is also 12% higher than the world record Intel Xeon W9-3495X and 23% higher than the world record of Threadripper 5995WX. There still seems to be some headroom for overclocking and we can certainly expect the 7995WX to surpass the 150K mark when it officially launches commercially in November.
