Windows 11 gives users one more reason to choose Android over iOS
At a recent Surface event, the company briefly introduced a new version of its Your Phone app, allowing users to connect their Android smartphone to their PC to access messages, notifications, and more.
Like Microsoft's other Windows apps (Calendar, Mail, Snipping Tool, etc.), Your Phone will get a new coat on Windows 11, as well as an update to the interface that puts the notification panel in an intuitive way.
While the Your Phone update doesn't appear to offer any new functionality, it should help bring the app into line with Windows 11's new look, which is characterized by rounded corners and soft colors.
The effect feels much cleaner and less cluttered, with easier access to important notifications, which are hidden behind a tab in the current version.
Historically, Apple has always led when it comes to synergies between computers and smartphones, and the benefits of the ecosystem the company has created make it harder for someone to own more Apple devices than to leave. Ecosystem.
The Your Phone app is trying to offer some of the same benefits to Windows users with Android devices, allowing them to access messages and make calls without having to reach into their pockets.
At the Windows 11 launch event, Microsoft also revealed that Android apps will also run natively on Windows 11, which can be downloaded through the Microsoft Store.
While Windows 11 and Android devices will likely never function the same way as iPhones and Macs, Microsoft is at least working to close this gap.
