Why is the sandbag blocking the flying bullet?
Sand is an integral part of any construction work, even sandbags are used to create water-proofing walls, anti-landslides and even bullets during the war.
Normally we still see the tremendous destructive power of guns in action movies, bullets can pierce walls, concrete, . but why can't it pierce sandbags?
Sand is a special material, its properties vary depending on the characteristics of the force acting on it. When a small force acts like poking a finger into the sand, this sand will be like a low density solid, each grain of sand will move to give way to the finger. But if it was a great force and had a significant acceleration like a flying bullet, the grains of sand could not move and were compressed. Meanwhile, the sand will be like a solid that hinders the movement of the bullet and holds it back.
According to Newton's Law 3: "In all cases, when object A acts on object B a force, then object B also re-effects object A, a force. These two forces have the same value, the same magnitude, but opposite. ".
Newton's law of force and force.
When the bullet hit the sandbag, it exerted a great force on the sandbag and the sandbag would also produce an equal amount of impact on the bullet to stop it. Without the outside, sand will fly in all directions. It was the shell that kept the sand from leaving the sand apart. When the bullet penetrates, sand immediately fills the bullet hole so that the sandbag is not damaged. Only the bullets on the sandbag are heated up because the sand has turned most of the bullet's ability into heat.
The finger we can stab into the sand is due to the slow motion of the finger, so it does not produce much energy, so the resistance caused by sand is not great.
Thick sandbags around fortifications help stop bullets.
A practical example that makes it easier to understand is water. When jumping from the edge of the pool to the water, the whole friend will sink in water, splashing water. But if you jump from a high altitude to the water, the human body will be subjected to a great force that can cause the organ to break.
So, how much of a layer of sand can block the bullet that is flying?
BulletSafe site tested Desert Eagle shooting - a powerful pistol in the sand bin to find the answer to the question.
It seems that sand is an excellent bullet-proof material, the bullet is fired cannot penetrate more than 7 inches of sand (17.78 cm).
Members of the Tin Hat Ranch team also conducted a test of firing bullets into sandbags and confirming the statement.
