In June 2019, INTERPOL launched Operation Goldfish Alpha - an advanced security service designed to support cyber criminal investigators and experts from 10 ASEAN countries (Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam) in detecting computer systems, routers infected with cryptojacking malware.

Notifications will be sent to systems infected with cryptojacking, along with security recommendations to remove cryptocurrency mining tools and block cybercriminals access to routers.

After a short time of implementation, Operation Goldfish Alpha has detected more than 20,000 cryptojacking systems in Southeast Asia, accounting for 18% of cryptojacking cases globally.
