The biggest super moon in 70 years will appear on November 14
If you want to observe an astronomical event this year - that's the Super Moon event this month (November 2016), when the Moon is closest to the Sun since January 1948.
This event will happen on the night before November 14, the Moon will appear 14% bigger and 30% brighter than normal. This is the time when the Moon is closest to the Earth by November 25, 2034, so you should not miss this rare opportunity.
So how will Super Moon appear?
According to the United States Aeronautics and Space Agency (NASA), because the Moon has an elliptical orbit, on the one hand - called the near-point - about 48,280km (30,000 miles) closer to Earth. on the other side (perspective).
When the Sun, Moon and Earth lie in line, the Moon's point revolves around the Earth, called the Sorrowful Day (the day of hope in our customs is the first day of the lunar calendar and the moon ie the 15th day of the lunar calendar).
When this Earth-Moon system - this Sun happens to the near-face of the Moon opposite to us and the Moon will occur on the opposite side from the Sun from the Sun, we call that the near-point. -hope.
This is the reason why the Moon appears much bigger and brighter than usual in our sky and it is called the " Super Moon " - or referred to from its specialty as a Moon. points .
Super Moon is not a rare phenomenon - we just appeared on October 16 and then on November 14 - a super-super-moon, we will have a super moon guest on the 14th twelfth.
But because November 14 a super moon will appear and last for about two hours near the point - the largest in nearly seven decades.
"The full moon on November 14, 2016 is not only the fullest moon of 2016, but also the closest full moon to Earth so far in the 21st century. The full moon will not approach the Earth like this anymore until as of November 25, 2034, "NASA said.
Depending on where you look at it, the difference between a super moon and a full moon is actually quite difficult to distinguish between them. If the Moon "hangs" overhead and you don't have buildings or locations to compare it, it's really hard to say it's bigger than usual. But if you are observing it from a place where the moon is near the horizon, it can create what is called the " Moon illusion ".
" When the moon is near the horizon, it may look larger than usual when viewed through trees, buildings or other foreground objects. The effect is an optical illusion but in fact must be removed from experience, "NASA said.
