Sleekbook is a variant of ultrabook for general users

HP's recent launch of the new ENVY Sleekbook line of products has surprised many tech professionals and consumers with a new product definition.

The name sleekbook makes people think of Intel's definition of ultra-thin, ultra-portable ultrabook notebooks that made noise for over a year. However, instead of being a completely different series, HP said sleekbook is just a variant of ultrabook, and the reason for its birth is to help users have more choices.

HP launched sleekbook line to create more options for ultrabook buyers.

According to Intel's definition, ultrabook is a laptop series that must meet the strict requirements of mobility. A product of this type must own solid-state hard drive to help turn off time almost immediately, lightweight design with a maximum thickness of 18 mm / 21 mm (for models below 13 inches or above 14 models) inch respectively), light weight and minimum battery life of 5 hours.

However, even though the manufacturers have tried very hard, a product that reaches all the above criteria is still priced higher than the average that many people can afford. Most are from more than 20 to 30 million, even more expensive with some super powerful configuration models.

One of the reasons for expensive is that SSDs are still quite expensive, making it difficult for most computer manufacturers. And to fill the gap between mainstream laptops and ultrabook, HP has released a sleekbook model. This model does not use an SSD, but instead of a traditional HDD, it makes the price significantly cheaper and reaches more users than before. Although a little less in terms of hard drive performance, sleekbooks still meet other standards such as thin, light design and long battery life like ultrabook.

HP ENVY 4-1012TU ultrabook series equipped with Core i5-3317U chip with speed of 1.7 GHz, 4 GB RAM, hybrid hard drive with SSD capacity of 32 GB and 500 GB HDD with selling price of VND 18.2 million (not including VAT) while HP ENVY 4-1011TU sleekbook series integrated Core i3-2367M chip clocked at 1.4 GHz, 4 GB RAM and 320 GB hard drive priced at only VND 15 million (not including VAT). The processor speed is slightly lower with the use of a fully-equipped HDD to help buyers save up to 3 million dong while still owning a thin and light laptop model with long battery life.

Along with the development of the new sleekbook series, HP is also upgrading their generation of ultrabooks. The company's latest ENVY ultrabook line has an optional 3rd generation Intel Core I processor, clocked RAM to 1,600 MHz, fully supports USB 3.0 port. However, the most significant is the high-end discrete graphics AMD Radeon HD, Beats Audio sound, HP Coolsense cooling technology, data protection with ProtectSmart.

HP deployed at the same time two product lines of the ENVY series showed that sleekbook and ultrabook will still live well in the market because they are located at different price segments, even though they are geared towards high demand.
