Series of cheap ultrabook coming soon in 2013

In 2013, computer manufacturers will launch a mid-range ultrabook for about $ 699 to boost sales.

According to Digitimes , computer makers are preparing to launch a mid-range ultrabook for about $ 699. However, to maintain profitability, they will also continue to sell high-end ultrabooks for more than $ 1,000.

The lower-priced ultrabook models will not be made from high-quality materials but instead of fiberglass reinforced plastics or a combination of metal and plastic. Mid-range Ultrabooks will use traditional batteries, lack of touch screens for Windows 8 and use thin hard drives or hybrid HDD / SSD drives.

For comparison, high-end ultrabooks will come with Lithium Polymer batteries, touch screens and a solid aluminum body or carbon fiber.

Market ultrabook is not as successful as expected and did not promote the PC market in general are stomping on the spot. In 2011, Intel invested an additional $ 300 million in this type of product but did not promote significantly.

Computer manufacturers are hoping that lower prices will change that. Taiwan's Topology Research Institute predicts that global ultrabook sales will increase from 16.7 million units in 2012 to 31.6 million units in 2013.
