Qualcomm launches Snapdragon X Elite, 'most powerful and efficient' CPU for Windows

Qualcomm Technologies has officially launched Snapdragon X Elite, the long-rumored and long-awaited processor for personal computers.

On the stage of the annual Snapdragon Summit taking place in Hawaii, Qualcomm Technologies officially launched Snapdragon X Elite, the long-rumored and long-awaited processor for personal computers. The company promises a "leap forward with best-in-class CPU performance", advanced AI processing and "one of the most energy efficient processors" in the PC market with "multi-day battery life". ".

Snapdragon X Elite is equipped with its own integrated CPU called Oryon. This type of CPU is considered to be the leader in the mobile computing industry at the present time thanks to its ability to deliver performance twice as fast as other competitors on the market, while consuming only the same amount of power. 1/3 at the same performance.

Specifically, Snapdragon X Elite is a 4nm SoC with a high-performance 12-core configuration running at a maximum clock speed of up to 3.8GHz and supports LPDDR5x RAM with 136GB/s bandwidth. Qualcomm says one or two of these cores can run at higher clock speeds when needed, reaching speeds of up to 4.3GHz. The manufacturer claims this latest chip for the PC market has up to two times faster CPU performance than the Intel Core i7-1360P and i7-1355U, while consuming up to 68% less power. Snapdragon X Elite's CPU performance is also up to 60% stronger but consumes up to 65% less power than Intel Core i7-13800H.

Compared to other high-performance mobile processors currently on the market, Qualcomm claims Snapdragon X Elite provides stronger single-threaded performance than the Apple M2 Max while consuming up to 30% less power. The single-thread performance of this chip is also said to be stronger than the Intel Core i9-13980HX while only requiring up to 70% less power.

The integrated GPU is another area where the Snapdragon -13800H from Intel. On the display side, the Adreno GPU supports up to three external 4K 60Hz displays.

Other notable features in the Snapdragon LPDDR5x up to 64GB, Wi-Fi 7, and USB 4.0 support.

Regarding AI, Qualcomm's PC chip has a Hexagon NPU with a performance of 45 TOPS (trillion operations per second), providing AI processing performance 4.5 times faster than its competitors. Snapdragon X Elite is expected to usher in a new era of AI for Windows 11 PCs and mobile devices designed to enhance generative AI experiences.
