Pokémon Scarlet and Violet: Trading Codes for Version-Exclusive Pokémon
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players who want to complete the Pokedex will need to do a lot of trading to achieve that goal. Luckily, many creators have put together networks of trading codes to exchange version-exclusive Pokemon.
Link Codes have existed in previous Pokemon games , allowing players to battle and trade with friends, but Game Freak's expansion of the number of characters in them has made setting up specific Trades in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet easier than ever. With eight characters to enter, you can simply enter the Pokedex Paldea number of the Pokemon you have and the Pokemon you want to trade for.
Pokemon Scarlet and Violet players can Trade with NPCs in the game to receive certain Pokemon much earlier than they would normally encounter them.
The only moves are standardized Trades for specific Pokemon that have been applied by the player, including legendary Pokemon, all Paradox Pokemon, and normal Pokemon. This means that players will need to know which Pokemon they need to bring to swap for specific Pokemon.
Updated September 17, 2025: This guide includes trade codes for version-exclusive Pokemon in the base game, Scarlet and Violet, as well as the Hidden Treasure of Area Zero expansion. However, there are still some Pokemon that they won't be able to register in their Pokedex unless they trade; namely, Pokemon that can only evolve through trade. If they don't have anyone they know to trade with, they can use the helpful codes added to this guide and find someone who wants to register the same Pokemon in their Pokedex.
Trade Codes for Version Exclusive Pokemon
Link Codes are used to Trade version-exclusive Pokemon in Pokemon Scarlet and Violet , allowing players to exchange equivalent Pokemon in each game. This can be based on their in-game location, type, evolution, or evolution level.
For example, one standard trade is Armarouge for Ceruledge. Armarouge is the evolution of Charcadet exclusive to Pokemon Scarlet , while Ceruledge is the evolution of Pokemon Violet exclusive. Similarly, Iron Treads is Quaking Earth Titan in Pokemon Violet , while Great Tusk is its equivalent in Pokemon Scarlet ; these two Paradox Pokemon are standard swap pairs.

How to use Trade code
To enter one of the version-exclusive Link Trades, you must open the game menu and go to the Poke Portal . Then, select the Link Trade option and enter the eight-digit code along with the Pokemon they want to Trade.
Please note that these Trades involve strangers randomly entering the same trade code . This may result in you not being able to receive the desired Pokemon from the Trade partner they were matched with. If this happens, simply cancel the Trade, re-enter the same Trade code, and try again.
Koraidon and Miraidon
As for the specific Koraidon and Miraidon Trades, you should understand that these Trades are permanent. While you can arrange return Trades or " touch trades " with friends outside of the game, there is no way to communicate this to strangers you meet via link codes.
They'll most likely leave shortly after completing the Trade. The best way to complete the Pokedex without losing your Legendary Pokemon is to find a Trade partner on social media (or in real life) who's willing to agree to those terms.
