PNY launches its fastest NVMe Gen5 SSD – the CS3250 – with a 4TB capacity and speeds up to 14,900 MB/s.

PNY has just introduced the high-end CS3250 Gen5 NVMe SSD series with read speeds of 14,900 MB/s, AI and gaming support, advanced cooling design, and a 5-year warranty.

Today, PNY officially introduced its new M.2 NVMe PCIe Gen5 (x4) SSD, the CS3250, considered the company's highest-end storage drive to date.

In terms of speed, the CS3250 achieves a maximum sequential read speed of 14,900 MB/s and sequential write speeds of up to 14,000 MB/s, placing it among the fastest on the market today. PNY has not yet released details on random throughput performance, but the company says it will update this information soon.

Notably, the CS3250 drive does not have its own DRAM cache, but instead uses Host Memory Buffer (HMB) technology based on the NVMe 2.0 standard, allowing it to utilize a portion of the system memory to increase data access speed.

Optimized for AI, gaming, and advanced multitasking.

PNY claims that the CS3250 helps shorten loading times, increase responsiveness, and improve multitasking capabilities, which is especially useful for computationally intensive tasks or real-time data processing.

With AI becoming a mainstream trend in technology, PNY emphasizes that the CS3250 drive is designed to meet the needs of modern AI applications, from real-time imaging to deep learning processing.

Additionally, the company also targets gamers by advertising that the CS3250 offers faster speeds, shorter game loading times, and reduced latency, thanks to its ability to transmit data (such as textures, maps, and effects) quickly and stably.

PNY didn't specifically mention whether the CS3250 supports DirectStorage, but it's highly likely it does, as most newer Gen5 SSDs already have this feature integrated.

Advanced cooling design, but still requires a separate heatsink.

Although Gen5 SSDs are known for their high speeds, their biggest drawback is their very high operating temperatures, which can lead to thermal throttling and unstable performance.

PNY states that the CS3250's NAND controller features an advanced heat dissipation design, helping to maintain safe temperatures during high-performance operation. However, the company still recommends that users add a high-quality heatsink to ensure long-term performance.

The PNY CS3250 will be available in the following versions:

  • 1TB capacity : $125.99

  • 2TB capacity : $219.99

  • 4TB capacity : will be released later; the specific release date has not yet been revealed.

Both the 1TB and 2TB versions will officially be available from October 28, 2025.
