Microsoft 'dedicates' to Google to reduce battery drain of Chrome

There is a minus point on Chrome that many people are 'bored', that is the level of battery consumption and system resources.

Google's web browser platform - Chrome - now accounts for more than half of the global browser market share, and is most used on Windows 10. This is thanks to its intuitive interface and stable performance. this browser. However, there is a minus point on Chrome that many people are 'bored', that is the level of battery consumption and system resources when used on laptops, smartphones, especially for devices running Windows 10.

This situation may soon change because Microsoft recently proposed a series of solutions that can address concerns about Chrome's battery consumption on mobile devices, namely by removing the cache. Disk disk (disk cache) is not needed when watching videos. Shawn Pickett, a senior software engineer at Microsoft, explained that the appearance of caching during video playback keeps the hard drive running, and it clearly uses a lot of power.

The second proposal involves Microsoft adding a test procedure on Windows 10 to verify that the device is running on battery power and is not connected to AC power. This allows the system to customize Chrome performance to match the remaining power on the device.

Another proposed change is the addition of an HTTP response content size comparison with the maximum auxiliary file size, and Chrome will not store the content when the file size is larger than the file size. at most, making the browser 'lighter', thus consuming less energy.

The suggestions from Microsoft were quickly responded by Google. A Chrome engineer, nicknamed 'Chrome Cickyham,' has confirmed that he and his colleagues are planning to launch a test of three Microsoft suggestions in Chrome, and will provide feedback soon. Of course the tests will be applied to Chrome Canary users before being released to everyone.

This is not the first time Redmond Company has contributed ideas for the overall development of Chromium. In 2019 alone, Microsoft Edge engineers made a total of more than 1,600 code contributions to the open source Chromium project. Some of these have extremely important roles in terms of accessibility, touch, PWAs, memory usage and a number of other improvements.
