Create a resilient backup

A backup is useful only when it contains the right data, survives the event that damages the original and can be restored. Synchronization is convenient, but deletion or ransomware changes can also synchronize. An external drive left connected can be affected with the computer, while a cloud account can be lost through compromise or recovery failure. This lesson builds a practical layered plan: identify irreplaceable data, keep an independent versioned copy, protect backup credentials and perform a small restore test.

Define what the backup must survive

Microsoft Windows Backup can protect selected files, settings, apps and Wi-Fi information through the Microsoft account and OneDrive ecosystem.
