Japan officially allows the creation of 'beasts' for organs, will a new 'human' appear?

According to Nature, scientists' requests for the development of animal human pancreas have been signed by a committee of the Japanese Ministry of Science. This is the first time that animal embryos from human stem cells have been approved by a country's government. The end result will be a new 'human' called animal-beast.

The permission to transplant human cells into animals will open up a new future for the medical industry that is scarce organs and bring hope to patients who need organ transplants. But also many people are concerned about the appearance of a kind of animal carrying human wisdom in the future.

The aim of scientists to do this kind of research is to create human organs that can be assembled from common animals, such as pigs, in the near future. At that time, humans will dissect these 'cross-bred pigs' as we still do in the food industry for organ harvesting.

For this study, scientists will put human stem cells into rodent embryos that cannot self-develop the pancreas to produce embryos that develop pancreas from human cells.

Hiromitsu Nakauchi, who led the study, said they would be careful not to create a human-like animal. The experiment will be temporarily canceled if they detect too many human cells in the hybrid brain.

This is not the first time humans have conducted experiments to create animal embryos from human cells. In 2018, Stanford University researchers successfully built sheep embryos and the first one, but because the hybrid did not contain organs, it was destroyed after only 28 days. The hybrids they created have only 1 / 10,000 human cells.
