How to braid french braids
French girls are always distinguished by their sweet and trendy appearance. And the typical French braid hairstyle is one of the factors that create that. It's basically the same as a regular braid, but you'll cross your hair below the middle, not up.
French braid tutorial
1. Prepare braided hair
- Use a wide tooth comb to remove tangled hair. This is extremely important because when braiding, the ends of the hair will be crossed, creating tangles.
- For starters, slightly wet hair is better.
- Brushing your hair while wet will create wavy lines when the hair is dry and the ponytail is removed.
2. Take the first section of hair
Run your thumbs along the scalp, through the hair, and separate the original section of hair that you will use to start the braid.
If you want the braid to start at the roots, use your thumbs to create a smaller, triangular section of hair near the front, at the top of your head. This part should be about 5 to 10cm wide. If you want the braid to start more towards the center of the head, place your thumbs on one side of the head (near the temples) and stroke along the center of the head to get the first section of hair. This section will be about 25cm wide.
- If you have bangs and want to incorporate it into braids, start braiding from the roots.
- For short hair, it's easier to combine all the hair when starting from the roots.
- For long hair, you can start braiding near the hairline or down the back of the head.
3. Separate the top of the hair
Once you have the first section of hair, use your fingers to separate it into 3 sections.
You need to divide the 3 curls evenly so that the braids are the same width. Otherwise, the braid may be skewed and uneven.
4. Make the first braids
Start braiding by threading the right section of hair under the middle section and vice versa. It is very important that the hair on the sides should be crossed in the middle. This is a feature of the French braid.
The first braids are done like a regular braid. No new hair is added.
5. Braid the rest of your hair
Once you have your first braids, you can now start adding hair. From the right side of the head, add a new section of hair to the right hairline, this curl is about 2 cm thick. Once this new section of hair is incorporated into the right section, thread the entire right section under the center section of hair. Do the same process with the left side of the hair. Gather a new 2cm section of hair from one side of your head, add it to the left section and pass it through the middle. Continue braiding this way until you have added all the outside to the braid.
The French braid is now complete. You can secure the loose part with hairpins and tie the ends with a black elastic.
