How long does iPhone break 10 million Galaxy S5 devices?
Page Korea Economic Daily yesterday reported that Samsung sold 10 million Galaxy S5 after 25 days on the shelf. It sounds like a "big" sales in just 3 1/2 weeks, until you know that Apple sold the latest 9 million iPhones in just 3 days.
In other words, the time that Apple needs to establish Samsung's " achievements " is only 1/8 of that of rivals. And the performance of S5 is actually not so impressive compared to the history of previous product releases in Samsung's own Galaxy S family.
According to Bloomberg, the Korea Economic Daily did not disclose from where they had figures for S5, but it quite coincides with the previous prediction of the Korean mobile giant. Samsung once said it took 7 months to sell the first 10 million Galaxy S and 5 months to repeat this feat with S2.
By the time S3 appeared, Samsung had accelerated quickly. The company sold 10 million units of S3 in a short period of 1/3 of S2. S4 is even more impressive when it hits 10 million units in just 27 days, which is 46% faster than S3.
If you look through this lens, it is clear that the consumption speed of S5 is only 7% faster than S4, equivalent to 2 days only, despite Samsung's many great deals like free gifts. worth up to USD 600 with S5 ( including PayPal voucher, high-end LinkedIn account and many exclusive fitness and health applications ).
And things became even more worrisome for Samsung when placing Apple on the scale. S5 was sold in 125 countries at the time of April 11, while iPhone 5S and 5C, released September 20 last year, only started in 11 markets. If Samsung likes to run wide-spread, Apple remains loyal to the style of " Hollywood blockbuster " release. Apples often launch new iPhones on Friday, then reveal the number of machines sold during the first weekend, equivalent to 3 days of opening.
Reversing history, the early iPhone launched in 2007 took 74 days to sell 1 million phones. Two 3G and 3GS models reached that milestone right on the first weekend. iPhone 4 sold 1.7 million units in the first few days, 4S sold 4 million units while iPhone 5 increased to 5 million units. The latest iPhone release ( 5S and 5C ) established a new record of 9 million units for Apple. This is also the first time that Apple has been selling new iPhones in China on the first day, an important reason for its improved performance.
Bloomberg said that Apple only lost 1/8 of the time compared to its rival to get the 9 million mark showed that Apple was still " the master of blockbuster launches ", but anyway Samsung still scored at wide-ranging power. Korean giants still sell more smartphone variants than Apple, even if the iPhone is " as big as the Avengers squad ".
The explanation for S5 causes a slowdown in consumption compared to its predecessor models, Bloomberg said that Samsung has not " advanced far enough with S5 when only adding fingerprint scanners, upgrading cameras, heart rate sensors and being able to water resistant ". Moreover, Samsung is also influenced by cheap Chinese brands, the general decline of the high-end smartphone market and the legal battle without an end to Apple. Last month, Samsung's mobile segment posted the lowest sales in the last 5 quarters while market share also fell for the first time in 4 years.
