Fuchsia is built from Goole's microkernel Zircon kernel, not the Linux kernel still used on Android and Chrome OS. It is unclear why Google created this new OS as well as which device it will run on. Because of testing on both Chromebooks, many people predicted it would continue the Andromeda project.
It is said that Google is working on the Pixel laptop, which combines Android and Chrome OS, called Andromeda. But instead, they announced support for the Android application on Chrome OS, not the new OS. As Google continues to test and build Fuchsia, we will know more about this mysterious OS.
