Elon Musk: AI will be smarter than the smartest person by 2025-2026

Elon Musk believes that a 'super AI' that will be smarter than anyone on earth will appear next year.

In a conversation with Nicolai Tangen on April 8, Elon Musk answered about the AGI development timeline: "If the definition of super artificial intelligence AGI is AI that is smarter than the smartest person, then it probably will be there next year, or in two years."

Musk then mentioned Grok, the chatbot launched in November 2023 by xAI company. He said the training process for the second version of Grok is facing difficulties due to a shortage of advanced chips. According to Musk, to operate Grok 2 requires about 20,000 Nvidia H100 GPUs, at a price of 30,000-40,000 USD per chip, and may need 100,000 GPUs for the Grok 3 model.

The American billionaire added that although the chip shortage is a major obstacle, the factor hindering the development of artificial intelligence technology is the power source.

Recently, Musk also commented that there is a 20% chance that AI will destroy humanity, but it is still worth the risk of developing.

In November 2023, the American billionaire said that if AI is controlled by bad people, things will become extremely bad. He also predicted that by 2030, artificial intelligence will surpass all human intelligence combined.

Musk shared that developing AGI is almost like raising a child, but he is a super genius, with God-like intelligence, so teaching the child how to be extremely important.

He argues that the best way to achieve AI safety is to develop the technology in a way that forces it to be honest.
