Discover the Longest Giant Marine Species Ever Recorded

The stunning video they shared on Twitter captures an incredible siphonophores of Apolemia as they glide over the deep sea floor of Ningaloo Gorge. The scene was recorded on March 16, at a depth of 631 meters.

The video captures the amazing beauty of Apolemia.

According to estimates by the scientists, Apolemia up to 47 meters in length is the longest animal recorded to date. Although relatively harmless, siphonophores are deep sea hunters similar to jellyfish and corals. By using veils full of poisonous siphonophores to trap prey, mainly small crustaceans, fish and sometimes other siphonophores.
