China's artificial sun will be operational by 2020

China's artificial sun can reach temperatures of up to 200 million degrees Celsius, 13 times hotter than the core core.

Scientists from China National Atomic Company and the Southwest Institute of Physics have created a nuclear reactor that can be considered an artificial sun. The device is complete, can reach temperatures up to 200 million degrees Celsius, 13 times hotter than the core of the Sun. According to Xinhua, this device is called HL-2M and will be operational by 2020. HL-2M is located in Lac Son City, Sichuan Province.

In fission nuclear reactors, energy is released by a chain of uranium atomic splitting reactions. As for fusion or fusion, atoms will be synthesized to form a huge energy source.

If we can control the thermonuclear reaction in the devices created by atomic researchers, we can create an infinite and ultra-clean energy source. This is something that atomic scientists around the world are still working on.

Professor Gao Zhe of Tsinghua University said that there is no guarantee that all issues will be under control, but without testing it will certainly not solve the problem.

HL-2M is the result of a collaboration between China and an international thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) project based in France. This is a super nuclear fusion project that includes trials in 35 countries with an estimated budget of US $ 22 billion and is expected to be completed by 2025.

In addition to HL-2M, China has another thermonuclear project called EAST in Hefei City, Anhui Province. This advanced superconducting reactor has reached a temperature of 100 million degrees Celsius.
