Alibaba is seeking to reduce its dependence on domestic firms as the global economy recedes, making Chinese exports record a 26% drop in the past month. This year Alibaba is spending $ 30 million marketing budget out of China to attract new users. Some of Alibaba's revenue comes from charging subscribers to sell products on its website.

eBay, which runs eBay.com online auction site and PayPal payment system, is ready to cooperate with Alibaba, eBay CEO John Donahoe. Alibaba has an AliPay online payment service that is compatible with PayPal.
