Proton set to slash prices after court ruling
Proton, the developer of the excellent Proton Mail , Proton Pass , and Proton VPN , has revealed that it will be lowering its subscription prices for iOS users. This comes after a major lawsuit involving Apple and Epic Games, in which Apple was forced to end anti-competitive practices that allowed it to charge subscribers extra fees.
Andy Yen, founder and CEO of Proton, has noted that this is finally an opportunity for the company to cut costs for subscribers and potentially offer discounts of up to 30% — a big win for millions of iOS users around the world.
Additionally, director Yen noted that Apple's ruling could also have a major impact on inflation in the United States.
Proton told TechRadar that the price changes would only take effect in the US because different rules apply in the EU. Indeed, Proton is 'begging the EU to follow suit and really force Apple to act.'
Users do not need to register through the App Store
