The safest tourist destinations in the world
Which places are the safest to travel in 2025 ? Let's take a look at a 2025 safe travel destination report from a leading reputable company in the world to find out!
A new report from International SOS—a leading health risk and security services company—offers key insights and practical guidance for travelers navigating an increasingly unpredictable world.
International SOS recently released its annual Risk Map 2025, predicting what to expect in the coming year—from the world's safest country to the most dangerous, along with the biggest issues shaping the travel landscape.
International SOS's Risk Map assesses risks across four key areas: security, health, climate and mental health risks. Countries are divided into five risk levels, ranging from negligible to extreme, depending on the category. This year's map also incorporates more detailed analysis, providing insights into more than 1,000 cities around the world and the key drivers of risk, including conflict, crime, infrastructure and access to health care.
Compare these results to last year's International SOS report and you'll see that the world is grappling with a lot of issues. According to International SOS, 65% of senior risk experts believe that risks have increased over the past year, with 69% predicting significant impacts from political challenges by 2025.
The safest places to travel
So where should you travel in 2025 for peace of mind? As in previous years, Scandinavian countries top International SOS's list of safest destinations, including Iceland, Norway, Denmark and Finland. These countries consistently rank highly due to their low crime rates, effective government policies and excellent emergency services. Iceland has also been named the world's safest country in other reports.
Switzerland also made International SOS' list of safest countries, thanks to its political stability and low crime rates. Smaller countries like Slovenia, Luxembourg, and Greenland were ranked among the "negligible" security risk destinations—further proof that stable governance and strong infrastructure are key to creating a safe travel environment.
Island nations like Cape Verde, Seychelles, and the Marshall Islands are also featured as safe destinations on International SOS's Risk Map. Cape Verde—off the west coast of Africa—is praised for its political stability and low crime rate. Seychelles combines a welcoming, friendly culture with a quiet environment in the Indian Ocean east of Africa. The Marshall Islands offer a peaceful getaway in a remote location in the central Pacific.
