Microsoft is about to bring the Clippy assistant back
Appearing on Office 97, Clippy was originally an assistant that provided support and tips for using Microsoft Office. Clippy has appeared in Microsoft Office for Windows (versions 97 to 2003), Microsoft Publisher and Microsoft Project (versions 98 and 2003, Microsoft FrontPage (versions 2002 and 2003) and Microsoft Office for Mac (versions 98 to 2004). .
Clippy received mixed responses, both love and hate. By Office XP released in 2001, Clippy was dead. On Office 2007 and Office 2008 for Mac Clippy is also removed.
A few years ago, this paperclip-shaped assistant was almost back. Some Microsoft employees have revived Clippy as an animated sticker in Microsoft Teams. But soon the project was discontinued.
Clippy caused a lot of controversy in the user community. Some people find this assistant helpful and cute. Meanwhile, the rest criticized Clippy for having bad design and annoying. Even Microsoft employees have different opinions about Clippy.
It seems Microsoft realizes that today's users are looking for more than fun. So they solicited user input to bring back Clippy.
As of now, the article has reached more than 130,000 likes so it is clear that Microsoft will have to fulfill its statement. However, it is not known when Microsoft will bring Clippy back.
