  5. Storage options up to 1TB
  6. 26% thinner
  7. Lighter than Galaxy S25 Ultra
  8. Larger 8-inch and 6.5-inch displays
  9. The 4,400mAh battery capacity remains the same as before

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 was announced on July 9, along with Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 7. Currently, many stores such as FPT Shop, Cellphone, Mobile World. have opened pre-orders for this smartphone at extremely preferential prices.

In the US, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is $100 more expensive than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, while the starting price in the UK remains unchanged.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 Design

  1. Only 4.2mm thick when opened
  2. Lighter than the S25 Ultra at 215g
  3. Larger screens with 8-inch and 6.5-inch sizes

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is significantly thinner than its predecessor, measuring just 4.2mm thick when opened and 8.9mm thick when folded, compared to the 5.6mm and 12.1mm thicknesses of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6, respectively.

This is a significant improvement, meaning that even when folded, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is not much thicker than a regular smartphone, for example the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra is 8.2mm thick.

Notably, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is actually lighter than the S25 Ultra, at just 215g. The Galaxy S25 Ultra weighs 218g, while the Galaxy Z Fold 6 is much heavier at 239g.

Despite its thinness and lightness, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is still built to last thanks to its Gorilla Glass Ceramic 2 front, Advanced Armor Aluminum chassis, and thinner and lighter Armor FlexHinge. However, it still has the same IP48 rating as its predecessor, meaning it's significantly water-resistant but not as dust-resistant.

The display has been improved — or at least larger, as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 has an 8-inch, 1968 x 2184 resolution folding display (up from 7.6 inches on the Z Fold 6) and a 6.5-inch, 1080 x 2520 resolution outer display (up from 6.3 inches on the Z Fold 6).

Both use AMOLED technology and have a refresh rate of 1-120Hz, with the main screen having a maximum brightness of 2,600 nits and a pixel density of 368 pixels per inch, while the external screen has 422 pixels per inch.

The rear display is also larger than before, making it easier to use and more like a regular smartphone screen. With such a screen size, the fact that the Z Fold 7 weighs only 215g is all the more impressive.

In terms of colors, you can choose from Blue Shadow, Silver Shadow, Jet Black, and Mint colors with the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, although the last color is only available on Samsung's online store.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 Camera

  1. New 200MP main sensor
  2. 12MP ultra-wide lens and 10MP telephoto lens
  3. The 4MP under-display lens has been replaced by a 10MP punch-hole camera

The main camera of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is one of the most notable upgrades, as the 50MP sensor from the previous model has been ditched in favour of a new 200MP f/1.7 camera - so in terms of megapixels at least, this is a big improvement. Of course, megapixels aren't everything, so we'll be very interested to see how this sensor performs in real-world use.

However, this is the only major camera hardware upgrade, as like on the Z Fold 6, it also has a 12MP f/2.2 ultra-wide-angle camera (with a 120-degree field of view) and a 10MP f/2.4 telephoto camera, with 3x optical zoom.

There's also a pair of 10MP f/2.2 front cameras (one on each screen), a slight improvement over last year's 10MP and 4MP cameras on the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 6. However, while the Z Fold 6's 4MP camera is housed under the screen, here you get a more conventional punch-hole camera.

Of course, there are also some new AI tools for photo editing, including a "Suggested Eraser" function in Generative Edit that does exactly what it says, and an Auto mode in Audio Eraser.

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 also features Samsung's next-generation ProVisual Engine technology, allowing for faster image processing.

Performance and software in Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7

  1. Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Chipset for Galaxy
  2. Up to 16GB RAM
  3. 4,400mAh battery

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy, the same chip found on the Samsung Galaxy S25 series and currently the most powerful chip available on an Android phone.

Additionally, the Galaxy Z Fold 7 is also equipped with up to 16GB of RAM (up from 12GB on the Z Fold 6), although this RAM is only available in the highest-end version, 1TB - if you choose 256GB or 512GB of internal storage, you will still have 12GB of RAM.

So the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 is sure to be one of the most powerful phones on the market. The software is also updated, with One UI 8, Samsung's version of Android 16. This interface includes some foldable-specific features, such as Gemini, which is optimized for multi-screen viewing.

In terms of battery, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 only has a capacity of 4,400mAh, equivalent to the Galaxy Z Fold 6. However, Samsung claims that the battery life will be longer, up to 24 hours (compared to 23 hours of the Z Fold 6).

Like the Galaxy Z Fold 6, it supports 25W wired charging, wireless charging, and reverse wireless charging.

Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 Overview

The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 may not have 'Ultra' in its name, but this looks to be the closest thing to the Z Fold Ultra so far, and it's got more upgrades than you'd normally see when moving from one generation to the next.

Other changes – including a new chipset, larger screen, and a thinner and lighter form factor – are also worth noting. It's a shame the battery capacity hasn't been increased, but the Z Fold 7 is still a promising foldable phone.
