Flappy Bird Game is about to be revived
A new version of Flappy Bird, the once hugely popular mobile game known for its frustration, is set to be released 10 years after it was removed from app stores.
The upcoming version has been announced on the website flappybird.com.
The Flappy Bird Foundation, a group calling itself 'Flappy Bird's diehard fans', said it had acquired the rights to the game from Gametech, an unknown company with unknown ties to the creator of Flappy Bird, as well as the rights to Piou Piou vs Cactus, a disputed mobile game that was released earlier and has similar gameplay to Flappy Bird. The group claimed the game would return to Android and iOS phones in 2025.
The new version will include new game modes, new characters, and multiplayer challenges.
At its peak, Flappy Bird was the most downloaded app in the world, leading in 100 countries and reaching over 50 million downloads. Flappy Bird was even listed in the list of 25 most influential apps over the past decade (from 2010 to 2019) by technology site CNET.
In February 2014, Nguyen Ha Dong, the creator of Flappy Bird, announced that Flappy Bird would be removed from app stores after a long period of suffering from its rapid popularity and the negative effects of the game. After that, low-quality copies of it began to flood app stores.
