Experience saving money effectively when traveling
- Journey to discover Vietnamese history and culture by motorbike
After traveling over 40 countries around the world and learning how to save money on my travels, I have drawn myself a very important rule that there is no need for too much money ( or one high-income jobs ) to be able to travel. Many people often feel reluctant to go on their own journey but stop themselves from the opportunity to experience the best journeys because they think they cannot afford to travel. . With some basic rules and good tips below, you will be able to travel long or short term with little income.
In any case, if you want to travel around the world you will need a clear financial plan. Need to save about how much money is enough? What is the minimum amount needed to get to where you want to go without starving or feeling " stuck "? How will you manage yourself back home? Those are the questions to consider before you want to make a trip away and the following guidelines can help you do that.
Set specific goals
The first and most important thing is that you must have a specific goal and stick to it. By making a list of what can happen on the trip and what you will have to do on that list every day. Think about how many days you will spend on the trip and what you want to experience from it. For example, your goal might be to travel through South America within 3 months with a budget of $ 1,000, or living in an ecological zone in India for many months. With outlined travel orientations, it will be easier to plan what to do to make the trip.
Save money on travel
Unless you already have a previous savings, you'll have to start saving money for your trip now. Even if you only saved $ 200 into a travel fund every month, after a year you had an amount of $ 2,400. In addition, whenever you have some change, put it into a travel fund. The more you save, the more and more of your budget, and most of all, your travel budget will become more comfortable and flexible. This requires a high sense of responsibility and by promising yourself that you will not be able to withdraw money from this fund, you can reach your goals soon.
Arrange finance appropriately
A few months before getting ready, make sure you have a reasonable amount of money in case you need to make or spend money on things you don't need when you're abroad. Call the auto insurance company to let them know that you do not use the car and need to lock the account until you return. If you do not intend to use your mobile phone in those days, you can tell your service provider to lock your account so you do not have to pay a fee that you do not use. And you should do the same with Internet service. For student loans or other types of bills you cannot pay in the absence, make sure you have enough money in your bank account to pay. Check if you can log in and pay your online bill with a credit card or create a self-pay function if you think you won't be able to access the Internet for a long time.
Take advantage of reward points from registering credit cards
The most must-pay in the trip is probably the ticket. One of the simple tips for getting cheap airline tickets that I learned after a few years of travel is to sign up for a credit card with the same brand as the airline to accumulate free miles. By creating one or two new cards each year, I can get free airline tickets for all my trips thanks to the rewards from the card registration.
Many travel credit cards offer 50,000 points when registering each card, with enough points for a free round-trip flight to almost anywhere in the world. When signing up for a credit card and there is one point, you often have to wait for up to 90 days to get a minimum amount of $ 1,000 to $ 3,000. This minimum amount is much easier to find than you think, and there are good suggestions on the Well Traveled Mile page to help you do that. By earning a bonus, you can easily save $ 1,200 for your travel because there is no need to pay for the ticket. Great, isn't it?
Cut down on comfort
It's true that all of us like luxury things, but if you cut down on unnecessary things, you'll save a fair amount of money. Of course, watching the program on TV when needed is great, but in this era of Internet technology there is no reason why you have to pay for an expensive TV program, especially if you looking to travel the world. Instead of buying a cup of coffee for $ 3, you can drink coffee at home. If you live near work, save gas and ride a bike to work instead of taking the bus. Think about the small daily expenses you can save by doing it.
Cutting these expenses will save a lot of savings and when you realize how much you can save money, you will easily dismiss those thoughts that are too much in front of you when not needed.
Find reasonable accommodation
The most important thing when traveling today, wherever you go you can easily find an affordable and special hostel, they are usually very clean and neat. By staying at a motel, you can find a safe place to stay with prices ranging from $ 10 to $ 15 a night. My favorite websites are Hostelbookers and Hostelworld. If you compare the prices of sites that offer the same hotel, you can save a few dollars by booking through the website above.
Couchsurfing is another option for you and it provides free accommodation for travelers who have registered an account and require a place to stay. The benefit of this site is to create opportunities for users to live with indigenous people. Another of my favorite websites that helped find cheap accommodation was AirBnB and during my recent trip to Puerto Rico I saved $ 40 a night by staying in a photography room listed above. AirBnB list instead of staying at the hotel.
