Asus and Acer will not introduce new netbooks in the second half of 2009, while Intel is planning to introduce low-cost product lines on the Pine Trail-M platform in the first quarter of 2010.
Currently, Asus is preparing to introduce a touch-screen tablet netbook with the T101 Eee PC T90, which is also preparing to introduce a tiny Android-powered laptop in the second half of this year. T101 is expected to use Windows 7, while netbooks running Android may appear at the end of October.
With ultra-thin laptops, Asus currently has models with dimensions of 12; 13.3 and 15 inches. In particular, the 13.3-inch version promises to sell, leading its sales. In addition, Asus unveiled other ultra-thin netbooks, 12 and 14 inch in August, which do not have an optical drive.
For Acer, the company will reduce budget spending on new netbook models and only produce 10-inch Aspire One models in the second half of the year.
Unlike Asus, Acer will not introduce netbooks running Windows XP and Android operating systems, which consider the mini laptop running Google's platform not thriving.
