Gacha Club Beginner's Guide: Characters, Studio, and Battles

Gacha Club combines three activities: designing anime-style characters, arranging scenes in Studio mode, and building a team for turn-based battles. New players can enjoy the creative tools without touching combat, but understanding the upgrade and elemental systems makes Battle mode much easier.

Start with character customization

Create the characters you want to use before opening Studio or Battle mode. You can change clothing, colors, facial features, poses, accessories, and profiles. Gacha Club provides slots for 10 main characters as well as additional character slots, so give each important character a distinct design or role.

Club and profile choices are useful for organizing a cast, but they do not replace battle preparation. A visually customized character is separate from the units, pets, skills, and materials used in the RPG-style battle system.

Create scenes in Studio mode

Studio mode lets you place characters, pets, and objects against a chosen background. Adjust poses and expressions, then add speech boxes or a narrator to turn a still scene into a short story. Saving several related scenes is an easy way to build a sequence before taking screenshots.

For a clearer scene, begin with the background, add only the characters needed for that moment, and use contrasting text and expressions. If you share screenshots publicly, avoid including personal information in character names or dialogue.

How Battle mode works

Battle mode uses collectible units rather than the appearance of your Studio characters. Teams attack automatically while energy builds for active skills. Each unit also has passive abilities, so compare skills instead of choosing a team only by rarity or appearance.

Begin with Story and Training modes

Story mode introduces the battle system and provides resources used for upgrades. If the next encounter is too difficult, replay a cleared stage or use Training mode rather than repeatedly attempting a fight your team cannot yet handle. Improve a small core team first, then return to the harder stage.

The four battle modes are Story, Training, Tower, and Shadows of Corruption. Story is the most straightforward starting point; the other modes give you additional battles and progression goals once your team is ready.

Build a balanced team

A useful beginner team combines damage with units that can heal, protect allies, weaken enemies, or improve the party. Read both active and passive skill descriptions and avoid filling every slot with units that perform the same job.

Elemental matchups can also affect damage. The main three-element cycle is:

• Water is strong against Fire.
• Fire is strong against Wind.
• Wind is strong against Water.

Light and Dark interact with each other, while Corrupted and DJ units have their own properties. Check the indicators on the battle screen when you are unsure; a strong unit can still perform poorly against an unfavorable matchup.

Equip pets for stat bonuses

Battle pets increase team statistics and are different from decorative pets placed in Studio scenes. You can equip up to 10 battle pets, so compare their bonuses and choose the combination that supports your current units.

Upgrade levels and skills separately

Unit levels improve core statistics such as HP, attack, and defense. Skill upgrades improve active or passive abilities. Both consume resources, and spreading those resources across every unit can leave the whole collection underpowered.

Choose the units you regularly use, level them together, and upgrade the most important skills first. Enhancement and Awakening provide further progression when you have the required gold and materials.

Use minigames to earn extra resources

Gacha Club includes Lemo & Yumi Dance, Mascot Whack, Usagi vs Neko, and Memory Match. These short games award gems and Bytes that can be used in the game's gacha systems, making them a useful break from repeated battles.

A simple beginner routine

1. Design your main characters and save a few Studio scenes.
2. Play early Story battles to learn how skills and energy work.
3. Build one balanced team and equip pets that support it.
4. Replay cleared stages or use Training mode when progress stalls.
5. Spend upgrade materials on that core team before developing additional units.
6. Use minigames when you want extra gems and Bytes or a change of pace.

There is no single required way to play Gacha Club. Treat Studio as a character-and-story creator, Battle as a separate progression mode, and switch between them according to what you enjoy.
