Stun with the speed of changing the rails of a 177m long 'super train'
Rail transport is the safest form of transportation in the world. But the maintenance, replacing the old roads also takes a lot of effort, even dangerous time for people. That's why Austrian Plasser und Theurer and Swietelsky created the RU 800 S , a specialized train to carry out that task.
RU 800 S is 177m long, when loaded with ballast and beams, this machine will weigh about 650 tons. This is one of the largest machines in the world.
Replace the old rails, add ballast layers and even catch all bolts together. RU 800 S performs completely automatically and quickly. Every hour, it can replace 200m of old rails and normally one RU 800 S replaces up to 2km, then it will pause to reload the material.
