South Korea has a similar pattern of deaths due to Covid-19 to China, showing that the disease is very dangerous for the elderly

The Covid-19 pandemic has affected more than 100 countries and territories, infecting more than 167,000 people and killing 6,506 of them.

In South Korea, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has continuously issued regular reports on the number of cases and deaths from Covid-19. According to the most recent report up to March 16, there were 8,236 patients with Covid-19 in South Korea, with 75 deaths.

In particular, the latest epidemiological statistics by the end of the week before March 15 drew a model that shows that Covid-19 mortality by age group in Korea is almost identical to China. This disease affects most people over 70 years old.

The younger the child, the lower the death rate due to Covid-19. South Korea has not recorded any deaths from patients under the age of 30 with Covid-19.

While South Korea reported 2,811 cases of Covid-19 infection under the age of 30, no deaths were recorded among them. Only one patient between the ages of 30 and 39 died and another patient aged 40 to 49.

However, elderly patients are more likely to die from Covid-19. By the end of last week, the proportion of patients over 80 years of age dying from the disease in Korea was 9.51%. In the age group of 70-79, the figure is 5.33%.

The higher death rate among elderly patients strengthens the trend of the attack on Covid-19's elderly population.

This has been observed in a statistical model in China, whereby the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has compiled a data set of 72,314 cases reported in this country to see if any. up to 14.8% of patients died from Covid-19 over 80 years old.
