Samsung launched the Galaxy Book Flex and Ion duo, the first laptop with an QLED screen, wireless reverse charging
At SDC 2019, Samsung launched two new laptops, the Galaxy Book Flex and the Galaxy Book Ion, equipped with an QLED display. This is the first time Samsung has brought display technology used in its premium TVs to laptops.
The two laptops also feature the Wireless PowerShare feature, which allows users to charge other devices that support wireless charging. So the new laptop duo can charge compatible Qi phones, Galaxy Buds and smart wearable devices with touchpad.
Galaxy Book Flex and Galaxy Book Ion are equipped with 10th-generation Intel Core processors, supporting Thunderbolt 3 and Intel Wi-Fi 6.
Galaxy Book Flex
The biggest difference between these two new laptops is the hinge. Possessing a 360-degree hinge, Galaxy Book Flex can be used in the form of a laptop or tablet. The Flex body is made of aluminum with eye-catching Royal Blue color. Flex supports the new S Pen's gesture controls to bring a new user experience, one of which is PENUP, a first for a laptop.
In terms of configuration, the Galaxy Book Flex has up to 16GB RAM, 1TB hard drive capacity and NVIDIA GeForce MX250 graphics. The device supports wifi 6, integrated S Pen, AKG stereo speakers, 69.7Wh battery and fingerprint sensor.
Galaxy Book Ion
The Galaxy Book Ion is a traditional laptop, made of lightweight magnesium. The device is designed to be light and thin with a thickness of only 12.9 / 14.9mm, weighing 0.95kg. The 15.6-inch version ion has added an SSD and DDR4 slot.
The Galaxy Book Flex and Galaxy Book Ion both come in 13.3-inch and 15.6-inch versions, and are equipped with an FHD QLED display.
Galaxy Book Ion configuration is similar to Flex but does not have S Pen feature.
Samsung is still announcing the prices of the Galaxy Book Flex and Galaxy Book Ion. The duo of products will be sold in select markets from December.
