In KOF 15, SNK still brings in many of the characters from the previous games, but also has some new characters joining the fight. Let's explore the roster of characters and teams in The King of Fighters XV.

Hero Team (Shun'ei Team/main team)

At the request of his old friend and rival Kyo Kusanagi, Benimaru Nikaido is tasked with looking after the two new protagonists, Shun'ei and Meitenkun. Therefore, he left Team Japan after 12 years and replaced his former master Tung Fu Rue who had retired from the battlefield. The three form the Hero Team of the fourth Saga, renaming China Team to Shun'ei Team.

Sacred Treausures Team after many tweaks, is now an official and normal team. As a result, Kyo Kusanagi undoes Japan Team, Chizuru Kagura returns to the game after a 19-year absence, and Iori Yagami disbands his eponymous team after 6 years. This is also the second time the clan's rivals, Kyo and Iori, have come together in an official match, after The King of Fighters XI.

Orochi Team is back officially after many years, being revived at the end of KOF XIV (with Shermie's presence in SNK Heroines).

Art of Fighting Team

After receiving an invitation from Ryo Sakazaki, King left the Women Fighters Team after 12 years, and replaced Yuri Sakazaki in the Art of Fighting Team. This is the third time the French bartender has joined the classic team, and the second time accompanying both Ryo and Robert Garcia.
