LG launches G8X ThinQ, a detachable 2-screen smartphone
LG has just introduced the G8X ThinQ, a two-screen smartphone at IFA 2019 in Germany.
But unlike other foldable smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy Fold or Huawei Mate X, the LG G8X ThinQ becomes a dual-screen mobile device thanks to a special accessory that houses the second screen. This accessory is paired through a foldable back cover.
The case and the device connect to each other via USB-C. Both screens of the machine are sized 6.4 inches, Full HD + OLED, 19.5: 9 ratio, support anti-eyestrain feature when watching videos at night.
The glass back of the device is only glossy black.
The screen in the test version of G8X ThinQ is experiencing some issues. Colors and color temperatures in the two parts of the screen are completely different. Before launching a product, GL must fix this problem.
G8X ThinQ has a number of features that help run many different applications simultaneously on two screens. On each side of the screen, users can surf the web while viewing the map.
When typing text or gamepads when users play games, the secondary screen can become a virtual keyboard. However, due to the long screen, the keystroke operation is relatively difficult, does not bring a sense of comfort to the user.
The rear camera system of the device includes the main camera is a 12 MP normal lens, a 13 MP ultra wide angle lens. The camera cluster of the device is capable of reducing the phenomenon of vibration when recording videos and taking photos thanks to its optical image stabilization (OIS).
The front camera of the machine has a resolution of 32 MP, but the picture when taken in the default mode will have a resolution of 8 MP only.
The power of the device comes from Snapdragon 855 processor, 6 GB RAM, 4,000 mAh battery. G8X ThinQ runs Android 9 Pie operating system.
The price and official date of the dual-screen phone have not been disclosed by LG.
