It turns out that giraffes have four species, not just one species as we thought

Again, the history of the number of giraffes on Earth has been reset.

Again, the history of the number of giraffes on Earth has been reset.

Axel Janke , a geneticist at the Senckenberg Institute for Climate Biodiversity and a research team at Goethe University in Germany, confirmed that the species of giraffes is also capable of subspecifying the environment and ecological behavior. Different everywhere on Earth.

That means, giraffes will not only have one species as we thought it was before. However, many areas of giraffes sorting out on Earth have disappeared much during the past time and populations of giraffes can converge to a habitat.

After a period of research and investigation, the team decided to go to the wild African grasslands and collect skin samples from more than 190 giraffes living on the land.

The entire skin sample was brought about genetic analysis and the results were amazing when there were 4 different species of giraffes that were independent, but not only one species as we thought before.

Experimental results show that 4 newly discovered giraffes include:

  1. Southern Giraffe (Giraffa giraffa strain)
  2. Massai Giraffe (G. tippelskirchi strain)
  3. Reticulated Giraffe (G. reticulata strain)
  4. Northern Giraffe (G. Camelopardalis strain)

All 4 of these giraffes are completely isolated and genetically independent through empirical analysis of collected skin samples.

Thus, it can be said, this finding is an important premise for biologists to re-establish the natural history of giraffes, as well as favorable conditions and motivation to have Can research, find many more new giraffes that we have not yet discovered. And most importantly, this discovery will give us a way to preserve the rare genes of each giraffe.
