Hacker who once cracked down on a nation's Internet was sentenced to nearly three years in prison
On January 11, London's Blackfriars Crown court condemned Daniel Kaye, a 30-year-old, 2-year-old, 8-month hacker for allegedly attacking and knocking down the Internet of Liberia.
In October 2015, Kaye launched a series of dangerous attacks on Liberia's Lonestar mobile operator, causing the nation's Internet to collapse over a period of time.
Daniel Kaye has admitted to creating and using botnets to attack the system of Lonestar network. Although there is no evidence, the British National Crime Agency (NCA) said that a senior Cellcom employee had hired Kaye to knock down Lonestar's Internet.
In the past, while still living in CH.Sip, Kaye also attacked Lonestar, which caused heavy damage to the operator. In order to fix the problem, Lonestar had to spend about 600 thousand dollars and the network's revenue dropped by tens of millions of dollars because customers dropped Lonestar to another network.

Daniel Kaye was arrested in February 2017. Later, Kaye was taken back to Germany to continue trial because the hacker admitted that attacking the country 's Deutsche Telekom network caused 1 million customers to be affected in November 2016.
According to NCA, Kaye is a skilled mercenary hacker, who has caused much damage to many businesses in different countries around the world. This shows that cross-border high-tech criminal activities are growing and dangerous.
